Wizard: Enum

Wizard walkthrough · Core Studio 3.0 · Verified 2026-09-01

When to use it: you need a new base enum with elements and labels — and the extensibility flags set the way the real compiler demands.

Size: S (the smallest wizard) · Automatable: fully.

Prerequisites

None beyond a custom model.

Steps

  1. Basics — name (validated, collision-checked), model/module.
  2. Properties — label, IsExtensible (default true), UseEnumValue (default false), configuration key.
  3. Elements — table editor: name, label, value (auto-assigned sequential).
  4. Summary — preview, commit.

Output anatomy

  • AxEnum/<YourEnum>.xml under <root>/<Model>/<Module>/AxEnum/, re-indexed immediately — usable in table fields and code.

The compiler law most people learn the hard way

UseEnumValue must be No when IsExtensible is true — the real xppc enforces it (PropertyValueRestriction). The wizard toggles the pair exclusively, and the builder refuses an explicit illegal combination. You cannot ship this mistake from the wizard.

Verify it worked

  • The generated enum matches the shape of Microsoft’s own (SalesStatus-style EnumValues/AxEnumValue structure).
  • On-VM compile 0/0; reference it from a table field and it resolves.

If it goes wrong

  • Downstream “cannot use enum value” errors — someone flipped UseEnumValue by hand afterward; restore the exclusive pair.
