How to: Azure Function webhook (net8)

How-to · Core Studio 3.0 · Verified 2026-09-01

Goal: an Azure Function (isolated worker) that receives events/webhooks for your F&O solution — edited, built, and tested beside your X++.

Template law: builds clean with only the .NET SDK installed.

Prerequisites

  • The .NET 8 SDK; Azure Functions Core Tools (used via the terminal, per the template’s README).

Steps

  1. Add the companion: Projects pane → Add C# Companion Project… → Azure Function webhook (net8). You get an isolated-worker Function csproj with an HttpTrigger sample.
  2. Shape your trigger(s) — full language server support while you write.
  3. Build — explicit verdict line; diagnostics to Problems with file:line.
  4. Run locally with Core Tools from the terminal; test with dotnet test in the Testing view.

Verify it worked

  • The Function builds with the explicit verdict and starts locally under Core Tools; the sample trigger answers.
  • Being a net8 companion, it is fully debuggable in the Studio — see debugging.

If it goes wrong

  • Core Tools not found — install per the README; the Studio uses the terminal for this by design (no hidden runners).
