How to: F&O OData client (net8)
How-to · Core Studio 3.0 · Verified 2026-09-01
Goal: a standalone integration client for F&O’s OData endpoints, living beside your X++ in the same window.
Template law: it builds clean with dotnet build on a machine with only
the .NET SDK — proven in selftests and re-proven in CI.
Prerequisites
- The .NET 8 SDK.
- Your environment’s OData endpoint details (from the environment profile pointer in the template’s README).
Steps
- Add the companion: Projects pane → Add C# Companion Project… →
F&O OData client (net8). You get a console csproj,
Simple.OData.Client-ready (commented), and the README pointer. - Uncomment and configure — the client package reference and your endpoint setup.
- Write the integration — the full language server backs you: diagnostics, completion, hover, definition, references.
- Build — explicit verdict line every time (succeeded / failed / up-to-date).

Verify it worked
dotnet buildprints the explicit verdict; MSBuild diagnostics (if any) land in Problems with file:line navigation.- The client runs against your endpoint from the terminal.
If it goes wrong
- Endpoint/auth failures at runtime — that’s configuration, not the companion: check the environment profile and your OData client’s setup.
Next: references & build · debugging (net8 companions are fully debuggable).
