Editor and X++ Intelligence

X++ editing with system-wide context.

Navigate code and metadata across the F&O application, see diagnostics while you work, and scaffold extension-first changes into the correct model.

Navigation

Definitions and references resolve across indexed code and metadata — jump from a call site to the declaration in another model.

Diagnostics

Syntax, semantic, and best-practice findings surface as you type, with the Problems view collecting them per file and model.

Documentation →

Guided extension creation

Wizards scaffold extension classes, table extensions, and event handlers into the correct model — with a review step before build.

Completion, signature help, and refactoring.

Capability boundaries are documented per build; the matrix below links each row to its documentation.

Verified against the shipped 3.0 build on a local editing VM.

Debugging.

Debugger support is topology-dependent and stated per companion target.

Known Limitations

  • Editing and navigation answer from the indexed workspace; content outside the indexed roots is out of scope.
  • Refactoring support covers the documented operations in the editing guide; it is not a full IDE refactoring suite.
  • X++ debugging coverage is net8-class; outside it, the debugger reports a typed degraded state — never a silent failure.
